Windhoek Academy wins Franchise of the year 2018
Congratulations to Simonne Oosthuizen who won the African Franchise of the Year Award 2018 for her incredible work in developing the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy in Windhoek, Namibia! In one year she already has over 240 children in her Academy.
Simonne received this award at a ceremony in Cape Town for the professionalism in which she runs her Academy, developing incredibly inspired teachers and nurturing each and every child in her school, taking them to new levels in communication and performance skills.
She has become one of the leading experts in drama education in Namibia. She regularly speaks on the radio and at schools, sharing her expertise about child development and the personal growth children experience through the creative arts.
Her own Academy produces outstanding results which can be seen in her amazing presentation days and productions, where the children always show such enthusiasm for the performance work.
Simonne, in particular, tries to make the international programme inclusive for all and she has seen so much growth in the children participating in this fantastic programme.
Her commitment to the programme and to her staff is exemplary and it is this strong belief in the international programme she offers has led to this prestigious award.
Duncan Rice, the Director of Helen O’Grady Africa, says: ‘I am delighted to share the success of Simonne’s vibrant Academy in Windhoek and with the other countries in Africa and further afield. She is an incredible woman for whom we are very proud. We can all learn a lot from her.’
We salute her for bringing this international programme to children of Namibia.
