ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL
HEINI VAN BILJON “Teaching is my chosen calling, a calling I strive to undertake with love and imagination, and I see no end to improvement, no arrival, and no completion:
I want to be that teacher who, even after decades of teaching, still leaves after a lesson asking how the next might be better, how to better engage and motivate each and every unique student.” -
Heini started music at a very young age and continued studying after school, she then chose to follow a career in the hospitality industry, but her love for the arts and teaching could not be ignored, and has been teaching music for the past 20 years.
Having grown up in a home with both parents being music teachers, a love for the theatre, the arts, and that of educating and empowering children has always been in her blood. Helen O'Grady was the perfect way for her to combine her years of experience as a music teacher, and her passion for the development of children's confidence, self-esteem, and communication skills.
Heini believes that drama, theatre, and music form part of a very natural developmental process that can have a tremendous effect on a child's emotional maturity, self-awareness, ability to work as part of a group, awareness of others, and their development of personal skills.
"As a teacher, I aim to evoke excitement, perpetuate knowledge and inspire learning."
